CCDC Talk at the Division of Chemical Information symposium: Progress with Standards in Chemistry: From Analogue to Digital
Talk: Data standards across domains: Supporting FAIR data and cross-domain interoperability
Speaker: Ian Bruno, co-organiser and Director of Data Initiatives at CCDC
Abstract: The contribution of Alan McNaught to the development and stewardship of chemistry data standards impacts not only on the chemical sciences but also on other disciplinary domains that rely on chemical information. As science moves further into the digital era, robust chemistry standards remain essential for achieving FAIR data and enabling seamless cross-domain interoperability. This presentation will review how chemistry identifiers, terminologies and data standards can support FAIR practices and integrate with emerging cross-domain interoperability frameworks. It will also share insights from other domains relating to the long-term governance and sustainability of scientific data standards, highlighting opportunities that can help strengthen the resilience of the chemistry data standards ecosystem.
