39th BCA – British Crystallographic Association 2023
The 39th BCA Spring Meeting occurs at the University of Sheffield, from the 3rd to the 6th of April 2023.
The CCDC exhibits, presents, and chairs scientific talks. The CCDC Prize for younger scientists will be presented at the conference.
CCDC Talks
IG: Industrial Crystallography for Pharmaceuticals
Keynote: Andy Maloney, Particle Science Team Leader
Date/Time: 5th April, 10:15-10:45
The use of crystallography within the pharmaceutical industry is applied in various applications. This session will cover practical and computational methods using crystallography to aid in Drug Development, developing control strategies and predictive approaches. Talks from the perspectives of crystallization, solid form, and particles will be welcome.
CCG/PCG: Teaching Crystallography
Presenter: Suzanna Ward, Head of Data and Community
Date/Time: 5th April, 11:25-11:45
With the significant advances in instrumentation and software, the practical aspect of using crystallography in research is far more accessible to students and researchers. The talks in this session highlight the ways in which crystallography is taught to students have evolved, as well as the aspects that haven’t changed. The session gives an opportunity to present and discuss different approaches to crystallography teaching, and to reflect on strategies that will equip and inspire the next generation of crystallographers.
CCG: Crystal Structure Prediction
Keynote: Lily Hunnisett, Computational Solid-State Scientist
Date/Time: 6th April, 12:15-12:45
Crystal structure prediction (CSP) is a rapidly advancing field and is one that shows great promise for a thorough assessment of the solid form landscape of a molecule of interest. This session aims to highlight the use of CSP in the community, recent advances in the area, and the current challenges encountered in the field.
