What can I do if Mercury or Hermes won't install the latest software and data updates?

Solution

You cannot install updates while the software is running. If you have closed all CCDC programs but the updates still won't install, try rebooting your computer to clean up any stuck processes.

Sometimes there may be issues with connecting to our update servers for a variety of reasons, and we do try to improve this process as we discover issues.

If you are unsuccessful in obtaining updates from the Mercury (or Hermes) Help > Check for Updates... menu, try using the CCDC Maintenance Tool instead. It may help to click Settings on the first screen and clear the cache.

You can also run the Maintenance Tool from a command prompt.

ccdc-maintenance-tool.exe -c clear-cache
ccdc-maintenance-tool.exe -c update

The --no-proxy or --system-proxy option may be of help in case of networking issues. Use ccdc-maintenance-tool.exe --help for a full list of options.
