With MacOS 10.14 (Mojave), Mercury & Hermes crash when checking for an update, or after 5 minutes of use

Solution

There is an issue with MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) and the November 2018 release of the CSD System software, as well as Update 1 and Update 2 releases made in February and May 2019, which manifests when those programs attempt to check for the availability of an update. This will happen when checking manually via the Help menu, or on the automatic check carried out after 5 minutes of use. The check will cause the calling program to crash.

We have a fix already in place for this with the Update 3 release of the CSD System made in August 2019. If you do not have the latest version of Mercury (3.10.3) or Hermes (1.9.3) that are included with Update 3 and run into this issue, then we would recommend manually downloading and installing the Update 3 CSD System update installer from our downloads page. The update installers are available under the "Data & Software Updates" section on this page.
