Technical FAQs
Which platforms are supported?
The Mogul 1.4 executables, supplied with the 2012 release of the CSD
System, are supported on the following platforms and operating systems:
- Windows - Intel compatible Windows XP/Vista/7
- Linux - Intel compatible, 32 bit:
- RedHat Enterprise 4, 5, 6
- SuSE Linux Enterprise [Desktop|Server] 10, 11
- Debian 4, 5, 6
Note: As we add support for newer versions of Linux, support for older versions may have to be withdrawn.
- Mac Intel compatible:
- Mac OS X 10.5, 10.6, 10.7
Mogul has been tested when installed natively on these platforms. Use with emulators, including virtual machines, has not been tested & is not supported.
If you choose to use a version other than those listed above we cannot
guarantee that Mogul will work correctly, although we will attempt to
assist you with any problems you may encounter.
Why can't Mogul open up the Help files on my UNIX system?
Attempting to view Help on some UNIX platforms either fails (if Netscape is not
available) or causes Netscape to crash. Help files can alternatively be
accessed by opening INSTDIR/mogul/docs/ Mogul.html in a Web browser or via the
CCDC Web Site.
Trying to launch the
sketcher causes Mogul 1.1.1 to crash on my linux system
This problem can occur on some variants of linux. In most cases the issue can
be resolved by setting the following environment variable before starting Mogul (for C shell) :
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1
For some of the very latest (and currently unsupported) linux versions (e.g. RedHat Enterprise 5) there
is unfortunately no way to resolve this issue for this version of Mogul. However, it is possible to use
the sketcher in ConQuest and then import to Mogul.
Mogul 1.1.2 (CSD 2008 release) resolves this issue.
